Happy Mothers Day 💕

This is my wonderful mum Di with her favourite roses, Double Delight and Mr Lincoln.

Mum has been unwell for a couple of years and this photo in April is the first time she’s been able to wander the rose farm and enjoy the garden she’s inspired through her own love of gardening. This photo brings me a lot of joy and I wanted to keep it here as a special memory 💕

The importance of bird baths 🦜

It’s incredibly dry at our place at the moment (don’t let the water in the dam fool you, it’s about ankle deep if that!)

I wandered out with a bucket of water to refill this birdbath this morning and instead sat on the ground and watched all these beautiful native birds enjoy the water left in the bath.

I’m no bird expert but in the 10minutes I sat and watched I identified Eastern Spinebill, White plumed honeyeater, Yellow tufted honeyeater, Double barred finch, Robyn red breast, Silvereye and two which fall into the little brown bird category and I wasn’t close enough to tell which little brown bird beyond, not a sparrow and different to each other 😂

I don’t always keep this bath full but after seeing the different cohort of birds using it from the one closer to our house you can be sure it will be kept full from now on!

As the soft light of an autumn sun sets over the farm it’s time to bring an end to our fresh flower season.💐

With the cooling nights and shortening days our roses are slowing down and getting ready for their winters rest. Our focus will move from selling flowers to growing for next spring and preparing our farm to plant more glorious fragrant roses over winter to produce more beautiful flowers from October 2025

Those cheeky Eastern Rosella's have been feasting on our roses 🦜

Why this year and not others? Its been such a dry summer that the fresh growth on our roses is the lushest food they can get their beaks on in our local landscape.

Unfortunately no pictures of them in the act, as they fly off as soon as I get near the farm gate.

Like my boots and roses we are a bit tired and dus

Like my boots and roses we are a bit tired and dusty after the Off Grid Living Festival over the weekend, but what a weekend it was!!

It was so lovely to meet and catch up with friends old and new, so many rose lovers, gardeners and people keen to live a more sustainable life. We loved chatting with you all and sharing how we grow our roses in our climate. We hope we’ll see you on farm at a workshop one day soon 💐

To our stall neighbours, @strawcastlecollective, @snowymountainseucalyptusoil and Albury Wodonga Seedsavers so lovely to meet you and hang out for the weekend, we’ll be following along on your journey here and at future events you can be sure!

Congratulations to Kate and the entire @offgridlivingfestival team. You pulled off an amazing event once again, your efforts and the sheer amount of time and patience it takes to coordinate so many diverse stalls, interactive displays and talks is greatly appreciated 🙌
